Problem and Solution
This tab interaction allows the user to solve knowledge gaps and practice the skill of changing thoughts and communication from a fixed mindset into a growth mindset. It is designed for a concept organization that would like its new employees to develop their skills with efficiency, collaboration, and professionalism. New employees come from diverse backgrounds and personalities. It is important that team members recognize the importance of their diverse experiences and are able to communicate how they bring value with their unique perspectives when facing work-related challenges. This micro-interaction uses custom buttons, states, layers, variables, and conditions in Storyline to take the learner on a journey through three characteristics of a growth mindset. This experience solves real-world knowledge gaps to help new employees maximize their success in a professional environment by providing them with the opportunity to practice the soft skill of communicating with a growth mindset.
Business Goal and Process
A professional learning experience should be guided by a business goal that affects key performance indicators and brings a return on investment. So, I determined the following goal and aligned all learning objectives to it: Task completion will increase by 10% as new employees utilize a growth mindset when faced with challenges.
I utilized the Successive Approximation Model (SAM) to design, prototype, and review on iteration after iteration of this learning experience. This way, I was able to prepare deliverables with a rapid pace. Not only did I provide the user with the opportunity to increase their knowledge surrounding growth mindset, but I also provided the user with custom practice sequences for each habit with unlimited attempts. This way, the user applies their newly acquired knowledge in a realistic, meaningful way that will help them remember what they learned.
